Hodari Boys Club
The Club was able to draw on experience of boys’ clubs from many countries in establishing its main frame. It is made up of two sections: Juniors, from 8 to 13 years old, and seniors, from 14 to 18 years old. It is open to boys of all races and religions and although enrolment fees might have caused hardship they have been waved to ensure the openness and representative nature of the Club.
Since the Club is not a substitute for either home or school its programmes have been designed to assist and supplement them. One of the main goals is to enable boys to discover ways of using their free time constructively. This naturally implies character development, since the boy is required to make a responsible use of his freedom.
A variety of values such as sincerity, generosity, loyalty, a spirit of hard work arid service to others can be developed in activities where responsibility and interaction are fostered.
